What a neon sign is

A neon sign is a drawing made of lines of light. Words, outlines and simple symbols glow in strong colours on a wall or in a window. They look good in photos as well as in the room.

Our game controller symbols are an example. They are a green triangle, a red circle, a blue cross and a pink square. Each symbol is a single clean outline. They glow on a dark wall, and a shiny floor reflects them.

Designs that work as neon

Every line in your design becomes a line of light, so simple designs work best. Short words, handwriting-style scripts and bold outlines work well. Small text, shading, gradients and filled areas do not work, because a line of light cannot fill a shape. If your logo is detailed, we can draw a simpler outline version that people still recognise as your brand. We show it to you before anything is made.

Where to use a neon sign

Neon signs suit cafe and bar walls, salons and tattoo studios, games rooms and home bars. They also suit shop windows that people pass after dark, and photo walls at events and weddings. Most neon signs are used indoors. If you want one outside, tell us. The sign and its power supply then need protection from the weather.

How to get a quote

Send a sketch, a word or your logo. Tell us the rough size and where it will hang. Most neon-style signs run from a power adapter that plugs into a wall socket, so tell us where the nearest plug point is. We will confirm the options for your sign when we quote.
