Posters, plans and photo prints

We print posters for shop windows, launches and events. We print architectural plans, drawings and presentation boards for pitches and planning meetings. We also enlarge photos for a wall, an exhibition or a gift.

Prints can be matt, gloss or laminated. We can mount them on board so they stand on an easel or hang flat without curling.

Large graphics for events and interiors

We also print large graphics on materials other than paper. We printed the lotus mandala stage front for Earthdance Cape Town in Kogel Bay. It was big enough to frame the stage above the crowd. The Wildfire expo stand has tall black and gold printed panels.

Indoors, we print murals that cover whole rooms. We also print heritage walls of photos, like the one at Piket Implemente. Another example is the row of bright printed acrylic panels we made for Maxxess Solutions.

How to prepare files for large prints

A large print shows every fault in the file. People see posters and photo prints up close, so these need a high resolution at the final size. People see banners and stage fronts from far away, so these can have a lower resolution. Images saved from WhatsApp, websites and social media are compressed and usually too small. Add bleed to any print that we trim to size. Keep text away from the edges, and send a PDF if you can.

01What is large format printing?

Large format printing is any print that is too big for a normal office printer. This includes posters, plans, banners, wall murals and stage backdrops. We print on wide rolls of paper, vinyl, canvas or banner material. Then we trim, laminate, mount or hem the print to suit where it will go.

02What resolution does my file need for a large print?

It depends on how close people will stand to the print. For posters and photo prints seen up close, aim for about 150 to 300 dpi at the final printed size. Banners and stage graphics are seen from further away, so a lower resolution can work. Images saved from WhatsApp or social media are usually too small, so send the original file.

03Can you print architectural plans and drawings?

Yes. Send PDFs set up at the correct scale and paper size. Tell us if you need them on plain paper or mounted on board for a presentation. We will confirm the details when we quote.

04What is bleed and does my poster need it?

Bleed is extra background that goes past the trim line, usually a few millimetres on each side. It stops a thin white edge from showing after we cut the print to size. Any print that we trim to its finished size needs bleed. If your file has none, we will tell you before we print.

05What is the difference between a poster, a banner and a canvas print?

A poster is printed on paper. It suits indoor walls, frames and shop windows. A banner is printed on strong PVC or mesh, with hems and eyelets for hanging indoors or outdoors. A canvas is printed on woven fabric and stretched over a frame, ready to hang as artwork.

06Can you design my poster or banner?

Yes. We design artwork as well as print it. Send us your logo, your wording and any photos, and we will lay them out for the size you need. You approve a proof before we print anything.
