Estate signage, hotel branding and 3D letters in the Winelands and West Coast

Estate signage suites

A wine estate usually needs a matching set of signs. At La Motte in Franschhoek, the red crest and estate lettering are on the entrance wall, with its Anno 1695. They are also on the signs for the Proeflokaal tasting room, the barrel cellar, the Bakkery, Spens Farm Pantry, the Atelier Creative Studio, L’Ami Family Boulangerie and the Plaaswinkel. The crests in the cellar and on the oak tasting counter are halo-lit. They make a soft glow on the wall behind them.

If you are planning a set of signs, start with a walk around the farm. List every building, door and junction that a visitor passes. Then decide which ones get a name sign, which get a direction sign and which get a lit crest. If you plan all the signs together, the fonts and finishes stay the same. Signs for old farm buildings

Many Winelands buildings are whitewashed farm buildings with arched doorways, timber pergolas and green shutters. Signs on these buildings should be simple and should not hide the building. At La Motte there is gold Parshuis Old Cellar lettering on the glass of an arched doorway with green shutters. Plaaswinkel lettering is above an arched brick doorway. Spens Farm Pantry is in gold on a white wall under a timber pergola.

Single letters on a white wall, or lettering on the glass, cover less of the building than a large panel. Old plaster and historic walls need extra care with fixings. Tell us about the building when you ask for a quote. See 3D letters and reception signs.

Hotels and spas

At Lanzerac in Stellenbosch, the illuminated Lanzerac Hotel & Spa sign shows the estate crest, 1692 and five stars. Inside, there is spa branding on a black reception fascia and on the bar fronts. There is frosted lettering on the glass of a reception office and a laser-cut cork world map. Blue and white damask wallpaper runs up the curved stairwell and above the restaurant banquettes. Piketberg and the West Coast

On the West Coast, Piket Implemente in Piketberg has red 3D Piket letters on stone walls and Hoof Ingang / Main Entrance wayfinding signs. There is also a round P logo with est. 1933, a heritage timeline wall from the 1940s to the 1980s and a black and white photo mural. Many country businesses work in Afrikaans and English, so their direction signs often use both languages. The Bergrivier Dental sign is halo-lit and makes a white glow at night.
