The name Woodstock Laundry runs across the full width of a matt black fascia. The letters are gold perspex, and they light up. In the evening, the name glows warm against the black. A small diamond-shaped logo is at one end. Below, the glass shopfront has no graphics, so people can see the clothes on the mannequins and rails.

Why the sign is easy to read

Matt black does not reflect the sky or the street. The lit letters are the only bright thing on the fascia, so they are easy to read from across the road. Gold on black also looks smart in daylight. This matters, because people see a shop sign in daylight most of the time.

The sign uses separate letters instead of one big light box. This keeps the fascia simple, with only the name and plenty of black around it. A good sign for a small shop usually needs one clear name and one colour that suits the brand. It also needs enough empty space around the name.
