Wood-plank wallpaper: a bedroom wall before, during and after
A plain white bedroom wall covered in whitewashed wood-plank wallpaper, shown before, while we hung it and finished.
Before
Before we started, this was a plain white bedroom wall. It was smooth, painted and empty. There was built-in white shelving to one side and a rug on the tiled floor. A wall like this is good for wallpaper. It is flat and in good condition, so we can hang the paper straight onto it. No bumps or cracks will show through.
Hanging the wallpaper
We hang wallpaper one strip at a time. Each strip is called a drop. Each drop fits tight against the last one, so the pattern continues across the join. With a wood-plank design, the planks must line up from one drop to the next. The grain and the knots then look like they are on real boards. One photo shows our installer smoothing a drop into place at the top of the wall. The finished planks are already up beside him.
After
The finished wall is covered from floor to ceiling in whitewashed, weathered wood planks. The room has the look of timber cladding, with no carpentry and no heavy boards. The pale colour keeps the room light. The before and after slider shows the difference.
If you want a feature wall, send us a photo of the wall, taken from straight in front. Also send us its width and height. See custom wallpaper and wall murals for how to measure. For more ideas, see our home murals and new home wallpapers.
